The Taste: Tuesday at 8|7c on ABC

I love participating in the Influenster community and one of the fun file activities they have going on right now is all about the ABC show The Taste which is on Tuesdays at 8/7c. If you aren't a member of Influenster (www.influenster.com)  go to their FB wall and start begging for an invite NOW! (seriously!) to participate in this program and many others! So much fun! But I digress...back to why I'm stoked...they are going to be having a Twitter party on Tuesday 2/19/13 with loads of prizes, trivia, pop quizzes, predictions, and fun surprises before, during, and after the latest episode airs. I'll be attending and you can follow me (@djb6486) or check it out yourself: Follow along with @Influenster starting at 3 with the hashtag #TheTaste (be sure to include this in all your Tweets) and participate the whole time to be eligible for prizes once you become a member.

Good times, right??? So to prepare I've been doing my homework and catching up on The Taste. You can find all four most recent episiodes here: http://abc.tv/Z3jimp or on Hulu if you are a subscriber. I'm only two episodes in at this point but I've been able to see the auditions and get a good grasp on the unique concept of the show. I love cooking shows on Food Network, Masterchef, Top Chef etc. so this is right up my alley!!

The first few episodes of The Taste were really entertaining. Chefs across the nation came to compete for a spot on one of the four famous chef's mentor teams. The contestant could be a home cook or a professional and they get an hour to prepare a signature dish and assemble it on a spoon to impress the mentor's and hopefully get them to vote affirmatively for the contestant and add them to their team of four. The famous chef's are Anthony Borudain, Nigella Lawson, Brian Malarkey, and Ludo Lefebvre. The catch is that it is a blind taste test and the contestants background, how the assemble food on the plate, and the ingredients are not considered in the decision. It was really interesting because a few times after learning the contestants background the mentor's regretted their decision to send them home. I love the idea of everyone getting an equal shot with no bias! Very cool! Check it out yourself and let's discuss! Leave me comments...I'll be updating with each week's episode and my thoughts and we can verbally duke it out in favor of our favorite contestants ;o) I'll leave you with some fun clips below:
